The ‘Peaky Blinders’ has been a TV series based on the cloth cap gangs of Birmingham from earlier last century generally post World War 1. The ‘blinders’ were so called because they would stitch a razor blade in their caps and head butt or swipe the cap across an opponents face causing serious injury. Fusion Festival 2013 took place at the beginning of the month. Great news for YourTV Birmingham – a man who understands TV and really knows Brum. Sir Michael Lyons has been appointed chairman of YourTV Ltd, one of the main contenders to win a local television licence to broadcast inBirminghamlater this year. Sir Michael, who was knighted for his services to local government, was chairman of the BBC Trust for four years until he handed over to Lord Patten last year.
