Birmingham asks the burning media questions

I was delighted to be able to attend the meeting called by Gisela Stuart last week on the future for media business in the city given the BBC’s flight from Birmingham. Councillor Martin Mullaney, sharing the top table, made some interesting opening points including the fact that they were having a meeting with the Director General about the issue. A number of extremely coherent views were expressed although some of the most depressing points were made by those who had been at a Mailbox meeting with the DG recently. The Mailbox appears to be effectively ‘written-off’. The ‘best drama studio in Europe’ is now only used 4 days a month -as described by an Archer’s insider as ‘criminal’. I shall be writing in more depth about the issues very soon.
